In the last couple of weeks, I’ve been hearing a buzz about the new L’Oreal Infallible Shaping Stick Foundation. I really wanted to give it a go, as I saw claims that it was the best drugstore stick foundation available right now and comparable to other more higher end stick foundations. In terms of makeup, foundations are one of my favourite things to test out. So I was quite excited to have picked up this new foundation the other day.
The new L’Oreal Infallible Shaping Stick Foundation is supposed to be a very pigmented, and have a 24 hour wear. It’s also supposed to be buildable and bendable as it has a creamy formula. The foundation gives a matte finish, and can be used as a foundation, concealer, highlight and contour.
The foundations are packaged in a sleek plastic cylinder container. This would make it great for travelling.
How It Wore
So I tried the foundation over the last few days. I’ll say it now – I’m pleasantly surprised. If I’m honest, I’m not the biggest fan of stick foundations, and the only one I truly like is the Lancomè Teint Idole Ultra stick foundation. I found the L’Oreal stick foundation to perform very well for a stick foundation in general.
The foundation is very pigmented as claimed, and I found that I didn’t need to apply a lot for it to give a good coverage. I also found that the foundation blended quite easily on my skin and didn’t appear cakey. However, I will say that even though this foundation can be built up, I can see that too much can give that masked appearance. The foundation is also quite lightweight and comfortable to wear. I didn’t find it to transfer, until much later in the day (after about 10 hours wear).
I chose the shade Toffee / Caramel (the second darkest shade) for my base and the shade Espresso as my contour. It isn’t the best matching foundation colour, but the shade lighter is too light for me and the darker shade is my contour shade. I was pleased to see that the darkest shade was a very dark foundation colour, which works great as a contour for me. If you have quite dry skin, then I do think this foundation may not be best suited to you. I did notice it clung to some dry patches that I didn’t even know I had. It also made my concealer look slightly patchy under my eyes, which is quite unusual. I might have to try it with a more hydrating concealer. However, everything else applied well on top and once I had powdered my face it all looked quite flawless.
You can see just how the foundation wore below. In this picture I had worn it for 14 hours (it was a very long day!) and I think it still looks great. I did notice that I got an oily t-zone throughout the day, but that started after about 4 hours. I typically get oily in my t-zone, but I was very impressed with this stick foundation as I’d normally be very oily when wearing a stick foundation. This is an oil-free formula, so it works great on my oily skin.
Final Thoughts on the L’Oreal Infallible Shaping Stick Foundation
Like I’ve said I did really enjoy using the L’Oreal Infallible Shaping Stick Foundation . I actually think it works as well as my Lancomè stick foundation, and better than many other high end stick foundations I’ve tried. I was quite disappointed with the shade range if I’m completely honest. There are 12 shades in the range and for what I can see 2 would suit darker skin tones well. I believe they have 4 shades that are supposed to suit deeper skin tones, but most are quite light and then they have the shade Espresso which is the darkest and a major jump from the next shade down. I just wish they would have worked on the shades a bit better.
I think the foundation is fairly priced at £8.99, and at that price I can definitely see myself repurchasing it.
