When Joanne from Opposable Thumbs Blog wanted to share what’s in her makeup bag, I just knew that I had to get involved! I was glad to see that Joanne has also tagged me and a few other bloggers in her post to share what’s in our own makeup bags.
If you know my blog, then you already know that I love my beauty products! I admit it. I’m a makeup junkie to the core. Over the last year or so, I’ve definitely calmed down, but my collection is definitely bigger than most people. I never really used to use a makeup bag, but I’ve been trying to be good and use up products. I decided to start using a makeup bag in the last 8 months to make sure I use up my products and to really test out the products. So let’s take a look at what’s inside my bag!
The primer that’s currently inside my makeup bag is the Max Factor All Day Face Finity primer. I recently added this back into my bag, as I really want to use this up. I really enjoy this primer, as it does what it says. It keeps my makeup on for a long time and I find that I don’t get too oily throughout the day too. It also feels more like moisturiser when wearing it. It’s definitely my go to drugstore primer!
For foundation, I tend to rotate this quite often. This month I’m trying out a couple of new drugstore ones. I’ve got the new L’Oreal Stick Foundations (one for a foundation and one as a contour). These are great for travelling, and I’ve reviewed them here. I’ve also recently been trying the Collection Lasting Perfection Foundation in the new shade 10 (warm mahogany). They never used to do dark shades in this foundation, but now that they do I thought I should give it a go.
The concealers I’ve currently got in my makeup bag are the new Makeup Revolution concealers everyone is hyping about (see my review here). I’ve also got the new dark shade in the Collection concealer which I also wanted to test out this month!
I tend to either use a bronzer or a contour powder. Currently in my makeup bag I’m using my Estee Lauder foundation powder in Rich Mahogany as my contour powder. It’s such a deep rich colour that it’s perfect for my skin tone.
As an all over face powder / setting powder, I’ve been using my Fashion Fair translucent powder which I love! I think I’ll be hitting pan on that one soon, so will definitely need to think about getting a back up. I’ve really been enjoying translucent powders as I don’t find them to transfer on my clothes. This one also doesn’t leave me with a white cast on my face.
My current highlighters have been the Kathleen Lights x Makeup Geek highlighter palette. I actually purchased this a long time ago, and whilst I was shopping my stash recently I rediscovered it! I’m really enjoying it, and they are quite intense highlighter powders, so a little definitely goes a long way.
The blusher I always have in my makeup bag, is actually discontinued. It was a MAC x Taraji P Henson collaboration in the shade ‘glow’ and it’s my ‘perfect’ blusher shade. It’s a copper red and comes in the mineralised skin finish range. I really hope they bring it back!
My go to eyeshadow palette at the moment has been the Huda Beauty Warm Brown Obsessions palette. Although small looking, this palette contains 9 full size pans, and packs a lot of pigment. I love to use this for an all over matte eyeshadow look, which is my typical everyday look. There are 8 matte eyeshadows, and just 1 metallic shadow. I love all of the shades, and for it’s a great travel palette.
I can’t do a makeup look without a good mascara. The one I’ve been using for the past few months has been the Essence Lash Princess mascara. This gives such a lengthening appearance to my eyelashes and it’s just £3-£4! I highly recommend it!
So that’s it for my makeup bag. Whilst writing this post I realised that I didn’t include a lip product! Well that’s because my lip products are typically thrown into my handbag or my coat pocket. But I’ve been loving wearing lip glosses recently like this one from Revlon or this new lip shine from L’Oreal.
