After the over-indulgence during the festive period I felt that I needed a detox. Physically, mentally and financially. I was feeling quite sluggish and overwhelmed at the same time and really needed to try and regain a good balance. Detoxes are not new to me as I’ve tried them many times in the past and always felt it worked. This was something I knew I needed to get me out of this funk I was feeling. Let’s take a look at the 3 ways I decided to try and detox and cleanse this past month.

Superdrug’s were kind enough to send me their new Some Body Teatox which is a set of 28 day time and night time detox and cleanse tea bags. At first I was a little skeptical, as I’ve never really enjoyed any detox teas. I was glad to see that the Some Body Teatox came in a separate bag for day and night time.

The day time tea is a refreshing blend of natural ingredients. It includes Japan Sencha green tea leaves with hibiscus, dandelion leaves, dried ginger, Egyptian lemon Yerba mate, nettle leaves and natural ginseng. It also includes lemongrass which I was a bit worried about as I hate the taste of it! However I’m pleased to say that I couldn’t taste the lemongrass (thank God!). The tea is packaged in a biodegradable tea bag which is great. I really enjoyed the taste of this tea. I’d say it had a subtle liquorice flavour to it. I really do not enjoy teas which taste purely of water, and was glad to see this has some body to it’s flavour.

The night time tea has a great blend of honey bush (a South African herb used in promoting sleep), rose hips, linden flowers, lemon Verdana, sumac berries, lime leaves, spearmint, sweet orange peel and sun flower petals. This tea has a slight minty flavour to it, and is definitely a tea I’d say to drink at night. I found it great for relaxing in the evening.

When drinking the teas, I would tend to leave the teabags in and drink when it was a warm. I was pleased to see the teas are Senna free (no laxatives), as I don’t agree with promoting laxatives. Although I didn’t lose weight doing this cleanse (not my main focus), I did find them to be great for rejuvenating me in the morning or calming me at night. Troubled sleep is something I tend to experience a lot, but I found that most nights I slept quite sound. Herbal teas are not something I typically enjoy and was surprised at just how much I enjoyed these ones, especially the day time one. I didn’t even miss my regular tea or coffee that I’d have. I think I may be a green tea convert now!

This past month I’ve really been focusing on being happy. Last year was quite difficult for my mental health (you can read here about my struggle with anxiety). I’ve been doing a few things to rebalance my mind. I’ve been reading quite positive books – one by Fearne Cotton and towards the end of the month I started reading a book by Jen Sincero. Both of these books have really helped in refocusing my mind and looking at things from a new perspective.

As well as reading I started to use more positive affirmations and began practicing being my own cheerleader. Lastly I ensured that I was writing my thoughts into my journal each day. Even if it was a thought that I didn’t think was relevant, I’d write it down. It really got me to assess the pattern of my thoughts and I can also see a positive change over the month too.

So this is something that’s going to be going on for a very long time to come. But last month, I really got to grips with my spending habits. Emotional spending is something I was doing a lot, so I really worked on that last month. I tried to separate my emotions from my spending, which I found the mind detox really helped me in doing so. It’s not something that has completely changed, but I can definitely see progress which I’m very happy and positive about.

So that’s my my detox and cleanse journey for the last month. Did you detox? Let us know below!

The tea sounds good. I have never detoxed before but the tea sounds like a good drink that can just help naturally x

I think it is great that the tea bags are bio degradable and that they are senna free, which means it is definitely more gut friendly then the laxative versions. As long as people are not focusing on the teas alone to detox and are living a healthy lifestyle then that is all that matters.

I feel like I need a detox once a month! Stress can sometimes be too much to bear and we need to step back for a bit. I love to try that tea.

  5. February 5, 2018 / 8:37 pm

I need to find this tea. I admit I love tea but this is exactly what I need!

  6. February 5, 2018 / 9:25 pm

I have not tried any detoxification but would like too. I guess just to see what kind of results would come from it. As everyone would have different results anyways. I think everyone needs to detox if nothing more then monthly to get more prepared for the future.

I am a huge tea drinker so I am always drinking herb tea. When I detox I tend to go all green – green smoothie, green tea and lots of green in the form of veg. It works wonders.

What an awesome way to detox with natural ingredients in the tea.. I too love getting detox with natural Green and orange tea, along with my lemon – pepper water at the night.

While I didn’t do an official detox in January, I have been incorporating a number of herbal teas into my days that are cleansing to the body. A few of my favorites? Red clover tea for its high number of antioxidants, milk thistle tea to help the liver, and ginger tea to fight inflammation. x

I have been thinking about doing a good detox. I just feel so sluggish lately… it could also be because it’s February in the Midwest (lol). I have never tried a natural detox before, so I’m intrigued.

  11. February 6, 2018 / 11:11 am

  12. February 6, 2018 / 11:21 am

i’m not one who believes in detox , but that’s is maybe the prettiest cup of tea I saw in a long time and I love tea! I think my blood type is tea ! I would really love to take a sip from this one

  13. February 6, 2018 / 12:20 pm

I love that these are senna free which means instead os being used as a laxative it can actually be used for what it says on the tin and that is detoxifying!

  14. February 6, 2018 / 1:26 pm

I definitely like that this tea is senna free. That’s a big one for me. It also sounds pretty delicious. I’m not very into detoxing, but this does sound like a great product for those who enjoy it! xx

  15. February 6, 2018 / 1:27 pm

I loved that you included your mind into the detoxing process. I think it’s easy to forget that sometimes stress and anxiety shades our days the most, not really our physical wellbeing. Winter is already tough on our body we should let it be tough on our mind & soul too. Great ways to be happier and healthier thanks for sharing!

  16. February 6, 2018 / 2:09 pm

I’ve never understood this concept of detoxing, but I do like a good cup of tea and that is relaxing.

  17. February 6, 2018 / 3:26 pm

Sounds like a really good month for your wellbeing. I need to get back into writing about my journal.

  18. February 6, 2018 / 3:35 pm

The next time I’m up town I will deifinetly be going to find those teas. I suffer terribly with sleep at times and that often triggers my anxiety too. Also totally relate with emotional shopping, I am terrible for it. Thanks for sharing a great post x

  25. February 7, 2018 / 7:19 pm

I have never really done a detox before. But I understand not wanting them to have laxatives. Most of them seem to want to include something like that along with it. Its good that your energy levels are up as a result. I will have to check this tea out.

I haven’t done a good detox in a while and I believe now is the right time. I always feel so tried and drained out, and I know it is because of stress eating (fast food particularly) and lack of sleep. I would try anything to give me more energy again.

  27. February 8, 2018 / 9:05 am

Getting detoxed by having a tea is the easiest thing one can do and tea is already on my daily list.

  28. February 8, 2018 / 9:58 pm

I love this post. Detox tea sounds so delicious and I love that you are detoxing your mind and spending too. I need to do the latter that’s for sure. x
