I was able to try out a rather sexy styled Hunkemöller kimono….and I quite liked it…sort of. I received the Hunkemöller kimono a few weeks ago and I used it leading up to the festive season and although I loved the design of the kimono and the luxury feel, it just didn’t fit me as well as I would’ve liked.
Who are Hunkemöller?
If you’re unaware of Hunkemöller, they are quite a big deal. Before receiving my kimono I knew very little about the brand so I did some of my own research. Hunkemöller is Europe’s fastest growing lingerie brand with over 800 stores in 24 countries. Founded in Amsterdam, they now reach a global market with not only their stores, but their online reach too. I also found it fascinating that Hunkemöller outline exactly who their target audience is – and they call her Shero. To put it simply Shero is a career woman, who enjoys spending time with family and friends. She also focuses on spending money on herself to ensure she looks her best. As a result of their Shero profile, Hunkemöller base their design inspirations around this type of female.
As I mentioned previously I was able to try the Doutzen Satin Lace kimono from Hunkemöller. This is a beautiful blue satin, with black lace trimming on the back of the kimono. It has an exposed back, skimmed beautifully by the lace and a belt that ties and gives shape to it. It’s light weight and great to wear in bed if I’m just reading a book or to wear around the house.
I received the XL/XXL size in the Hunkemöller kimono, which is the largest that Hunkemöller do. If I were to give any criticism at all it’d be that I wish their sizing would be a lot more inclusive. I found that although the kimono did fit, it felt just a little bit snug, so a larger size would have been perfect for me. I’d also like to see them include a plus size range as their designs are really eye catching and all women should be given the opportunity to shop them. I’d say that if you are a size 18 or below then this is definitely a lingerie and nightwear brand to check out!
Below I’ve selected a few more of my favourites from Hunkemöller for you to check out:
