Before I start I wanted to wish you all a happy new year! I know we all say it, but time really does fly by and 2018 has come around quickly but it’s very welcome. It’s been a tough year for me, but also one of the most amazing too.

I’m not one to necessarily have New Year resolutions as I know I probably will not stick to them. However, I am one to set myself some very realistic goals for the days, weeks, months and year ahead. Each month I’ll be writing some focuses for the month – to mainly keep myself on track if I’m being honest. As my wedding approaches my focus is definitely going to be wedding related, however I’ve also got books on my mind!

Happy by Fearne CottonI’ve decided that this year I’m going to ensure I read a lot more. This month I really want to get through two books. The first book I’ve started with is called Happy by Fearne Cotton. This book is about ‘finding joy in every day and letting go of perfect’, and I felt that it would be the most fitting book for me to kick the year off with. I’ve heard plenty of good things about the book, and it’s a Sunday Times bestseller, so I couldn’t resist. The second book I plan on reading has a slightly different tone, but a similar message. It’s The Life-Changing Magic of Not Giving a F**k by Sarah Knight. Again, I’ve heard plenty of good things about this book, and really thought I need to learn to adopt a sort of worryless attitude in the new year. If I’m being honest, 2017 was full of me worrying about everything including finances, friendships and the future. It really took over my mind and happiness, so I can’t wait to let go this year.

PlannerAside from reading, I want to make sure that I journal something everyday. I love to write and I find my blog to be a sort of escape. However, there are some things that I really don’t want to share with everyone, so I thought my journal and planners could be a great tool. I decided to pick up the Happy Journal by Fearne Cotton to help me along the way. It looks as if it will be a very good reflective tool to help me along the way. I’ve also picked up a daily planner from Typo to help sort out my life. I really want to use the planner to help with my blog posts, but also to just simply arrange my day and time. I’ll have to keep you updated on how useful they’ve been for me!

Right so as I write this we have 4 months until the big day! I can’t believe how quickly it’s come around, but at the same time I’m very excited to be getting married this year. The one thing I’m most nervous about is not being able to lose the weight I wanted for my big day. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to fit into my wedding dress (in fact my wedding dress is too big!). I did, however, want to get my body looking its best. So this month and going forward I’m on a complete health kick. I’m trying  out a couple of things (nothing too drastic) that hopefully will help me. I’ll be doing an update post next month so definitely stay tuned!
